Dr. Jordi Gamir. ORCID num: 0000-0003-0111-6454
I carried out my Ph.D. at University Jaume I of Castellón (UJI), from 2011 to 2014, supervised by Dr. Victor Flors. During my Ph.D. we were able to find out novel metabolites mediating priming responses in plants. As a post-doctoral researcher, I have been awarded four post-doctoral fellowships. My first postdoctoral stay was carried out in Prof. Felix Mauch’s Lab at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland. During this research period, we discovered the biochemical function of the sought-after antimicrobial protein PR-1. In 2017 I moved to Granada with a postdoctoral Spanish fellowship, Juan de la Cierva-Formación, in Dr. Maria J. Pozo’s Lab. During this period, we discovered that the event known as mycorrhiza-induced resistance is based on the early recognition of damaged-self molecules derived from the plant cell wall. I have had the opportunity to collaborate with prestigious scientists in the field such as Dr. Brigitte Mauch-Mani, Dr. Pierre Pertriacq and do different shorts stays in renamed laboratorie as Ivo Feussner’s Lab at Gottingen University and Toby Bruce’s Lab in Rothamsted. I have been selected to participate in the second and third edition of the New Phytologist next generation scientists meeting in 2017 and 2019. Besides, I was awarded an EMBO travel grant to assist in practical courses organized by EMBO and the European bioinformatics institute (EMBL-EBI) in early 2018. In total, I have participated in 7 research projects funded by national and international foundations. I have been the principal investigator (PI) in two of these projects and, I have experience with the transfer of knowledge to companies since two of these projects were funded by agrochemical companies. I am author or co-author of 19 peer reviewed articles (SCI) with H index of 13. At present, I am back in Castellón, thanks to a research excellence program fellowship from my region in Spain (Generacion Talento). I am starting a line of research, in my new lab at UJI (https://nitropriming.wordpress.com/), focused on the recognition of damaged-self molecules and studying signalling responses in crop plants.
