DUTH

Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH) was established in 1973 and started operating during the academic year 1974-1975. It currently consists of 8 Faculties and 20 Departments which are allocated in four cities of Thrace (Xanthi, Komotini, Alexandroupolis and Orestiada) and includes 529 Faculty members, 25919 students, 3363 postgraduate students and 1708 PhD students. Relying on its quality of teaching and research level, DUTH has secured a place among the best Greek Universities. DUTH has/is currently participated/participating in several EU-funded programmes, such as FP7 and H2020 actions, JUST Action Grants, Life, Erasmus+ actions, Jean Monnet Chair, COST Actions etc. Furthermore, DUTH is participating in several transnational and national projects. DUTH is involved in INTOMED through the Department of Agricultural Development. The mission of the Department of Agricultural Development is to provide high quality University education and create new knowledge on the scientific field of Agricultural Sciences. Research performed by the members of the group is focused on (1) integrated management of plant pests, (2) herbivore-plant-microbe interactions, (3) ecology of biocontrol agents, and (4) agricultural socio-economics.
